Hi I lost my right eye to Retinoblastoma as a baby in 1949. Have survived nicely. I have a drawer full of little plastic eyes and a great eye maker in Boston. Gotta be careful driving cause I don't see too good on the right. Too bad for them huh, they can MOVE.Look here little guy, you be a good camper and don't let the kids tease you. In fact I choose my life's work while still on the playground cause I learned to take a few lumps. I work in human services. Your parents got it tough. My Dad had a real hard time... I always have to laugh at Prince charming and the glass slipper... mine was a glass eye. Tell Mom and Dad to love you extra good and e-mail me.

HI I read your summary on RB on the net, and your information is ver good and helpful. I lost my r eye to RB in 1949 at age 9 mos. That was before any chemo, plaques etc. I am very fortunate because it was detected very early on and the doctor's listened to my mom, a nurse with 4 kids already. I am the only case in the family and no new ones, thank God even though the family is not into two generations of cousins, neices and such. My son, 27, has perfect and beautiful eyes I hope the children he may someday have will be Ok does the genetic screen work for the 13q deletion. (I researched RB once for a graduate paper)If anyone needs info on a good eye maker in Boston, please let me know. My friends complement me by saying "which twin had the Tony"? You'll get it if you are over 35 yrs. old. Am interested in hearing from people with the socket implant what's that all about?? My cancer was studied at the Jackson Lab in Bar Harbor Maine. Evidently a few more days growth of the tumor would have resulted in blindness. Luckily mine is one side only. Thank to you for your research page. This is all very hard on parents, I am sure. Please know I am here for you. COLD warning... plastic eyes can freeze in cold temps, take care. Life in Maine was chilly enough without the frozen eyeballs!!
